Philip Gulley to preach at Cross Creek

Quaker pastor Philip Gulley will return to Cross Creek for our Fall Intensive.
Join us on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in lieu of our regular worship service for An Evening with Author Philip Gulley, a special dinner event at which he will present his new book If the Church Were Christian: Rediscovering the Values of Jesus. Check back here for ticket information.
Philip will also preach during both Sunday services, at 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

Coordinating Council meetings are open to the wider Cross Creek Community. If you have business for the Council, please talk to one of the Council members beforehand or send an e-mail to the Moderator at moderator@crosscreekchurch.org.

Exploring Membership Class

Those interested in investigating covenant membership at Cross Creek Community Church, as well as those interested in learning more about church's statement of faith, its vision, mission and distinctive values, its decision making processes and its varied ministries, as well as its affiliation with the United Church of Christ and the Alliance of Baptists are invited to attend the Exploring Covenant Membership Class scheduled for Saturday September 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can sign up in the church hallway or contact Pastor Mike Castle to register. Childcare is available upon request with advance notice.

Annual trip to Longtown, Ohio

This year Cross Creek will be joining with College Hill Community Church for their annual trip to Longtown, Ohio, a predominantly African American community in Darke County founded in 1822. We'll travel to Longtown together via bus and will worship and fellowship together. Check this space for further details.
Quarterly Justice and Witness Meeting

At the Justice and Witness Ministry’s quarterly meeting we’ll come to consensus on 3rd quarter Local Mission Giving.
We will also get updates from our J&W teams (Beyond Color, Equality Cross Creek, Feeding Friends, Cross Creek IAF, and the Garden team) as well as talk about other J&W activities.
If you’re already involved in one part of Justice and Witness and want to hear about other parts, if you’re not yet involved and want to see where you can plug in, or if you just want to hear what we’re up to, feel free to come!

Katrina Kittle to participate in worship

Local author Katrina Kittle will return to Cross Creek during worship services (5:30 p.m. Saturday, 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Sunday) to read from her new book, The Blessings of the Animals, a novel about marriage.

Chris Glaser to preach at Cross Creek

The Rev. Chris Glaser, author of As My Own Soul: The Blessing of Same-Gender Marriage and interim pastor of Atlanta, GA’s Virginia Highland Church (which, like Cross Creek, is affiliated with both the UCC and the Alliance of Baptists), will preach during this weekend’s worship services (5:30 p.m. on Saturday, 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on Sunday).
Chris will also lead and facilitate a workshop on Saturday morning.

Fall retreat 2010

Save the dates! Cross Creek’s fall retreat will be held in 2010 a little later than usual, in November, and, as usual, it will be loads of fun! Check back later in 2010 for registration information.
This year's retreat will again be held at beautiful Camp Akita in Logan County, OH.
