Kroger Rebate Program Promises to be Rewarding
Kroger gift card
From Currents vol. 11 issue 3

Cross Creek Church will now participate in the Kroger Neighborhood Rewards Program, a rebate program which promises to bring significant funds to our church if enough people sign up for the program. This is one of the numerous ways in which the Coordinating Council is addressing the church's budget challenges, and an easy way to benefit from members' regular household spending.

How the program works:
  • Buy a Kroger Rewards gift card from Cross Creek at the events table
  • Pay to reload your card with more money at your local Kroger store
  • Use your card to buy your groceries
  • Cross Creek gets 4 percent of what you spend

Participants must purchase a special Kroger Rewards gift card from Cross Creek (do not buy the card at Krogers—if you do so, Cross Creek won't get credit). It will start out with a value of $5 and will be sold for $5 at the events table. Keep the card and reload it before making Kroger purchases. Pay to reload your card, at the customer service desk, by check, credit card or in cash, up to $250. Then use your card to buy your groceries. The balance on your card will show at the bottom of your receipt. You can also obtain your balance online by going to www.gcbalance.com.

When Cross Creek reloads equal $5,000 or more in a fourweek cycle, the church earns four percent of the total. If Cross Creekers spend $5,000, that's $200 for the church. If the church doesn't make the $5,000 mark in a cycle, the funds carry over to the next cycle. The church then continues to earn four percent each time $5,000 is reached or exceeded in reloads.

The Rewards gift card may be used at all Kroger-affiliated stores, including Owens, Dillons, and Fred Meyer Jewelers. The card can be sent to family or friends out of state and still benefit Cross Creek, as long as the card is reloaded.

Following Cross Creek's March 4 Congregational Meeting, the Council also decided to pursue ideas for additional fund-raising projects, review the budget with an eye for opportunities to reduce costs, address the church's financial condition quarterly, and develop a new stewardship program which improves our stewardship effectiveness.
